Well, a one hour lab of presentations on corn genes is all that stands between us and summer. I can’t believe how fast this semester has gone by, I feel like it was January yesterday! Well, it’s been really awesome being in class with all of you guys, and I hope we can have class reunions full of gene stories in the next three years!

Yep, we’re at the end!

That’s right, people, we are done with functional annotations, my wonderful lab group just finished up our beautiful final presentation, and corn genes are being finished up! WOW! We have done a lot this semester, way to go class!!

Well, HOPEFULLY, today I will finish my final annotations with the lovely Ellie! It’s so exciting to be so close to the end, but I think I’ll miss Benedict a little bit; he was a good phage while he lasted! Now, on to corn!

I am so excited to see everyone’s different views of the course we have been involved in! I am a little nervous about being a “judge” and asking good questions, but I think this exercise will be really informative of everyone’s views of what we have done!

AGAIN??

Hey, we’re annotating genes…AGAIN! Well, yes, I think I do have a new-found hate for annotating, because this is like the third we’ve done it! However, I’m told that this just might the last of it, and I believe that sense of accomplishment will be overwhelming (in a completely nerdy way). So, once again, here we go with annotations!!

Back Again!

Well, we are getting back into the swing of things now that we are back from Spring Break. While I really enjoyed the break, I am glad to be back and try something new in lab. The gene annotations and problem genes were ridiculously tedious, and I honestly hated them by the end. However, now that we have the go-ahead from the people upstairs, we get to do the fun stuff! Here we go!!

Almost Done!

I am SO ready to be done with these difficult gene calls! It isn’t my favorite, and I really want to see what our next step is towards deciphering the mystery that is Benedict! Hopefully we can get done today, and go into Spring Break without this being finished! Have a good Spring Break everyone!!

One big…or two little?

It has been pretty fun working on the all of the difficult calls together! I feel like every time we decide something, it’s a universal triumph! Sometimes we disagree, and sometimes we don’t, but it’s really fun to do this as a whole class working towards one goal! Class on Friday was also fun, I enjoyed hearing everyone’s different views, and the respect everyone had for everyone else was awesome! Hears to another interesting week, and SPRING BREAK!

Well, we are finalizing our group annotations, and it’s going pretty well. My group is very chill…so the hardest part for us was deciding who’s call was better. We were all willing to be looked at again, and that made the process go nice and smooth! So, here goes our presentation!

Du-du-du-du-du-du-DONE!

I quite possibly have the best gene region and group ever!! We all agreed and had some really awesome genes that match nicely! It was really wonderful to have a nice section and just get some practice calling!
