My year …. eh, two more finals.
The class has finally, basically … kind of? finished.
Lab is basically done. We have completed our functional annotations of our sections. We’re now beginning to work on the corn genome – well, some of us. Hopefully, this shall be a lot easier – because we’ve already done it before. And, this isn’t all relying on unreliable internet sources – it is based on cold, hard facts.
The class is coming to an end, and we’re still working on Benedict. It is a tad aggravating because it takes half the class to open the programs needed to work on the annotations, and then I am still not 100% sure what I am doing, so I am hoping I am doing it right.
On a slightly better note, I am excited for summer and to spend time back home with my brothers and sisters for one last summer before taking off to Europe next summer and then who knows what after that!
It’s a tad bittersweet, but it’s been fun guys!

How was everyones Spring Break?
I am still really confused in lab, but it can only get easier/better from here, right?
Well, after our 9 AM tomorrow … I am DONE.
Spring break couldn’t be here any faster, and after a week of mid-terms I am just as ready as everyone else. We have finally reached a milestone in lab and we’re sending our calls back to Pittsburg, pretty exciting.

I have been overwhelmed underneath PAGES of material. I think I finally have a grasp on everything. I am somewhat confident in my presentations this past week, somewhat confident in my paper, and somewhat confident in my studying for this test. The last two are still going to increase, hopefully. This week has been ridiculous. But, hopefully it will all be worth it. It has been interesting to decide where I fell inside the continuum of the Science and Religion debate.

Double meaning? First off, I miss group presentations … kind of … a little bit.
Secondly, it is a metaphor that SENORITA CANTU, my Spanish ‘Instructor’ in high school used. Apparently, once the train left … there were not alternate modes of transportation … so, she encouraged us to work hard in the beginning and towards the end it would all level off and the train would coast … I didn’t QUITE understand it … and still don’t … however, if there were a BIOTRAIN, I would like to think that I would be on it.
I feel that I have, fairly quickly, learned to use all the tools, gadgets, programs that we’ve been presented with. I, along with all of you [y'all] (in 1406.A) have annotated 8(ish) genes already. It feels really good to be able to do something [: I don’t know if I did it CORRECT, but there is no RIGHT or WRONG way, according to GIBBON and ADAIR. I don’t know WHY I am capitalizing RANDOM words IN this post.
Perhaps, it IS the lack OF sleep.
Nonetheless, everyone have a great week. And everyone go out to the game TONIGHT. We better see y’all there … in PINK! Wait, I don’t have pink … crap. BYE!

I am SO excited to finally rip Benedict apart and analyze every letter inside of him! I hope everyone else is just as excited. Stay warm, you guys! God bless, Do your best!
So, that 21 page article … 21 used to be my favorite number! After sifting through it, I realized I knew more about mycobacteria than I thought … however, I still learned a lot about that. Currently, I am studying more about the mosaicism (which I still say the ‘k’ sound, as opposed to ‘c.’) of “Cluster B.” Our presentation on Friday will be beast. (Beast: dominating!)
