I grew up in a United Methodist Church in El Paso, TX. After a long church shopping experience, I found my home in the Episcopal church. Yet, after the whole Gene Robinson issue I have migrated more towards the Anglican church. I am currently not extremely active in my church. I attend weekly services, but I no longer sponsor the youth ministry as I have found it necessary to fuel my energies into my theological and equestrian educational journeys. A large portion of my time is also spent as a cheerleader for my husband (we married in 2003) who is a student at Baylor Law.
I attained my Bachelors of Science from Le Tourneau University in Longview, TX. I also minored in Biblical Studies. I am a C-3 Graduate of the United States Pony Club (USPC) and currently competing as an adult amateur with the United States Dressage Federation (USDF).
After I graduate from Truett (summer 2011), I plan to have a career that will allow me to continue to strive diligently towards achieving my equestrian goals. I originally thought I wanted a Ph.D. because I am gifted with the ability to teach, but I found teaching high school chemistry somewhat tedious. (This is part of why I chose to come to seminary.) Recently, I have become very aware aware of the reality that education and salary are not directly proportional for professors.
In other words, the time spent attaining a Ph.D. does not receive the often believed payoff in the salary department. Not to mention the politics that lurk behind the necessity of attaining tenure. Therefore, I am keeping a look out for a new direction.
As for this course, I am hoping that it will fill out my education in the area of the prophets, as I am currently only equipped with an introduction to the prophets themselves.
