Hello world!
Hello, all who read this! As our first blog assignment is to introduce ourselves, I will take some time to do just that! My name is Bethany Rivera Molinar, and I grew up in non-denominational churches until I was about thirteen. My parents were and still are solid Christians who instilled the value that the Christian walk is just that -an active walk where our words of God’s grace and love to all must make itself evident by the way that we love and serve others. Growing up, my parents demonstrated us to this by becoming active in ministries that fed the poor, cared for the lonely, and reached out to the sick. When I was thirteen, I began to attend an unconventional Baptist church which existed to reach out to the unchurched and at-risk youth in El Paso. It is there that my faith continued to blossom and grow as a teenager and young adult. Currently, my husband and are actively involved in ministries with Church Under the Bridge and Mission Waco. I am humbled and grateful for both organizations, as God has shown me even more of His heart for the lost through them!
I grew up in El Paso, Texas. Upon entering college, I attended the University of Texas at El Paso. It is there that I earned a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Microbiology and minoring in Chemistry. I am now in my second year of graduate school. I am a dual masters student at Truett Seminary and the Baylor School of Social Work.
I am not sure where we will end up after my education is complete here at Baylor. I would like to participate in some sort of community development programs where my social work graduate work may be utilized. I would prefer that this be faith-based, but if not then that’s okay too! Honestly, I would like to be where the skills that God has equipped me with can be utilized.
I am looking forward to this course, and I hope that I come out of it with a greater understanding of the nature of God! I hope that this course will equip me to gain that greater understanding!
Thanks for reading!
