Done son-
We’re done with lab! I am so sad I won’t being seeing this group of people everyday next semester. This was such a wonderful program in that relationships were able to be consistent from last to semester to this semester. I loved being in a class where everyone cared and it is normal to be an overachiever
All we have left are corn presentations. I have to say that I actually enjoyed doing the annotations on the corn genes. Once I understood it I was really learning stuff along the way- but it still wasn’t easy:) I can not figure out what to do my presentation on. I don;t know how to talk for 5 minutes on something I’m not very familiar with. Everything I find that gives details is waaaaay to detailed to the point that I don’t follow at all. It’ll work out though:) I just don’t have Esther and Kristie to back me up!
And if I get one more email about completing a survey during finals I am going to be angry Bayless
))))) Anyone else agree????
winding down…
These last few days have been creepily stress free. I only have on test and 2 quizzes this week that I am ridiculously prepared for. I’m kind of worried that I’m forgetting something…
We had our last bio test and are finishing up in lab. I’m not quite sure what we are going to do now that most of the annotations are finished. We’ll just have to see!
One more class presentation!!!! I am quite glad because they are time consuming, but I will miss my quality time with Esther and Kristie
We’ll just have to hang out ALL THE TIME next year
I’m pretty sure it is time to start studying for finals- especially in Bio because there is so much to review- but I realllly don’t want to. It just sounds so ominous…
I do believe I am just experiencing the calm before the storm…

Yesterday we presented the selected posters in the BSB atrium. We had someone come and talk to us too! I think we did pretty well:)
Here’s a picture of Fumbi and Jolene with ANNA, CHELSEA, and MEREDITH’s AWEEEEEEESSSSOOOOOOMMMMMMEEEEE poster!!!!!!!!!
You can see the corner of LAURA, JOSH, and ANDREW’s WWWWWAAAAAAYYYY FFFAAABBUULLLLOOOOUUUSSS poster!!!!
good job guys :)

HOLLA!!!!!!
Today we are doing poster presentations!!!!!!!!
Here’s some shout outs!!!!!!!!!
Victoria and Alix- LOVE your poster! So colorful and straightforward.
Chelsea, Anna, Meredith- Y’all were really good at explaining stuff!!!
Laura, Andrew and Josh- Y’all knew your stuff!
Rachel, Ellie, Morgan- Y’all rocked and didn’t talk too fast
Sarah, Fumbi, Jesus- Y’all got a lot of info in!
Jolene, Luke, Rynn- Y’all are just adorable
Jimmy, Frank, Rayce- Y’all divided your time between each other well
Kristie, Ester- Well y’all are just too fab
oh so funny
So you know when you’re making a scientific poster and all you want to do is scream? Well, I figured out the remedy for the nasty little feeling. It’s called Photo Booth
))
When my group and I were working at the library on our poster we were too pooped to pop, but photo booth certainly lightened our spirits:D

:)
Meet George Jetson…
Today we had a video conference with the SEA directors. It was nice to see that they really are doing this program just for the students, respect our experience, and value our input. I think it also made everyone a little more excited about lab. It has been pretty frustrating lately with the slow loading, but the posters and this video conference have been a nice break.
It will be interesting to see everyone’s posters and different perspectives of the last 2 semesters. I think we can all agree that class and lab have certainly been more challenging than expected, but having a poster feels like something final- like we’ve accomplished something.

See! We're almost as cool as the Jetsons!!!!
close!
We are SO CLOSE to being done annotating Benedict’s genome. I’m excited to learn how to use more computer programs- especially phamerator. (maybe because it has a cool name
)
It will be nice to be moving on after Spring Break!
DONE!!!!!!!
Today I finished my poster on cute little Benedict and Lilbear
Feels gooooooood.
Now I can start studying for the test!
yay our group!
I think our presentation tomorrow is really interesting, and I’m excited to share it. It took us FOREVER to prepare!!!! What’s our topic????? Here’s a clue

conflict conflict
Tuesday
We have been comparing our gene calls with each other in groups. Shout to Meredith, Rachel, and Anna! We had about 8 genes that conflicted, but we worked it out. Kristie and I have several of genes that don’t match. We haven’t had a chance to figure those out yet. After out presentations we are supposed to go through all of the genes that were really difficult to call as a class so we’ll see how that goes…
